1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Enrollment & Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the parent or legal guardian) and The Checkmate Labs ("Academy," "we," "us," or "our"). By booking a demo class, accessing our website (thecheckmatelabs.com), or enrolling in our chess coaching programs, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.

2. Free 45-Minute Demo Session & Policy

We offer prospective families a complimentary 45-minute live 1:1 evaluation session:

• No Financial Obligation: The initial 45-minute demo is 100% free. No credit card or payment information is required to schedule.
• Zero Purchase Pressure: Parents are never obligated to purchase ongoing batches or private coaching plans after the trial session.
• Free Assessment Report: Each participating child receives a personalized 2-page Skill & Focus Assessment report upon completion of the demo.
• Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule your demo time, please use the reschedule link inside your confirmation email or message us on WhatsApp at least 4 hours prior to the session.

3. Minor Participation & Parental Consent

Our programs are tailored for youth students ages 5 to 16. By booking a session on behalf of a minor, you represent that:

• You are the student's parent or legal guardian with full authority to grant consent.
• An adult parent or guardian is available in the home during the live video session.
• All contact details provided belong to the parent or guardian, not the minor child.

4. Safe Learning Environment & Code of Conduct

The Checkmate Labs maintains a safe, encouraging, and respectful environment:

• Certified Mentors: All coaches are thoroughly vetted and trained in positive youth mentorship pedagogy.
• Sportsmanship & Respect: Students and coaches must treat one another with dignity, good sportsmanship, and mutual respect. Bullying or harassment will result in immediate termination of services.
• Fair Play: We teach strict chess ethics. Use of chess engines or assistance software during competitive academy games is strictly prohibited.

5. Intellectual Property

All proprietary curriculum, tactical puzzle databases, workbooks, branding, graphics, and video content created by The Checkmate Labs remain the exclusive intellectual property of The Checkmate Labs. Materials provided are licensed solely for the personal educational use of enrolled students and may not be redistributed or commercially repurposed.

6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

While our coaches are dedicated to advancing your child's cognitive focus, tactical prowess, and FIDE rating, individual progress depends on student practice, consistency, and dedication. We do not guarantee specific tournament victories or national titles. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Checkmate Labs shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from website use or service interruption.
